Birth consultation is a way to help empower women and their families to make educated and informed decisions about their maternity care. Through birth consultations, I provide individualized, evidence-based material to help women and their families address their unique interests and questions about pregnancy, labor and birth, and the postpartum period. To start the consultation, I will send you a questionnaire, including questions such as:
- What is most important to you about your birth experience?
- Do you have any specific questions or areas you would like to learn more about?
- Have you observed anything in friends’ or family members’ fertility experiences that have influenced your beliefs and desires about birth? (things you want to emulate/avoid?)
Based on the questionnaire, we will work together to answer your questions and inform areas of curiosity. Birth consultation services are a supplemental tool in birth education and support, not an alternative to traditional childbirth education or doula services. A consultation is a wonderful gift for first time moms or women with subsequent pregnancies, who are facing new questions and curiosities.
